We had 11 walkers this past Monday and the walk included a look inside at the Historic Church (benefit of having the club president also serving as the church's board of trustees president). As it has been all summer long, a perfect way to end a Monday, pleasant and/or shady weather! We'll close our 2010 summer night walks on Monday, Aug 30th with the Parks of Murrayhill YRE #652. So this is your last chance to join this walking group. Start time is promptly at 6:30 as it is starting to get dark by 8:30 and our finish time. In fact, flashlights or reflective clothing might be a good idea! The address is Tualatin Fire & Rescue #66, 13900 SW Brockman Rd, Beaverton. We'll celebrate the end of what turned out to be a great idea with a special surprise upon our return. Now taking ideas for the 2011 Summer Strolls!!!!

Last week 3 hearty souls braved the heat and walked the Summerlake Park Walk. We were pleasantly surprised that we were in the shade most of time and there was a cool breeze blowing toward the end so it really wasn't all that hot.
Tomorrow, Monday, Aug 23rd we are walking our Orenco Station Historic Church walk. As always departure time is 6:30pm. All interested walkers should meet at the sign in box in the hallway near the meat counter at the New Seasons Market on 61st Ave in Hillsboro. This is our next to last Monday night walk so don't  miss out on the chance to walk with friends. Also be sure to check out our Facebook page!

We had a great turnout for the walk from the Forestry Center last night; about 20 walkers showed up! The walk was awesome though we did do a bit of creative direction following (meaning getting lost and adapting as needed, such as how to get back to the trail being unable to go through the Japanese Garden entry point). I think it's safe to say this is a recommended route...just pay real close attention to the directions and allow for a bit of instinct and you'll be back to the finish without major trouble. The woods, the views, and all the point of interest along the way were worth every step! Thanks to CRVC for having this route available and for allowing us to "borrow" the walk materials from the box since the Forestry Center closed before our start time.
