We'll make this challenge really simple. At the first Cedar Miler YRE you do, pick up a free challenge card from the box at the start point. When you finish all 12 walks, regardless of when in 2012, you've done them, drop off the completed challenge card in the box at the 12th walk start point. Can't make it much easier than that! Today, we hosted the Wednesday Walkers. ABout 40 people showed up to walk, 30 in the 10K group, 6 in the "fast" 5K group and that many or more in the "slow" 5K group. We did our Hidden Pathways of Beaverton walk...downtown, through multiple neighborhood pathways, back to the downtown area. The group started at Cedar Hills Crossing. Next Saturday, Nov 19th, we are hosting a another group walk, this time, Commonwealth Lake. Photos are on our facebook page (from your facebook page, type in Cedar Milers Volkssports Club and you'll find us). This route took us across the overpass of the Sunset Highway and onto the Marquam Trail which links up to the entrance to Council Crest park. Great place to view the city and the southern valley! Then it was back to continue on the Marquam Trail, then through residential streets along the homes up in the Portland hillside. We arrived at OHSU just in time to catch the Tram down to the South Waterfront. Neat ride with great views. We then walked to the nearby intersection to ride on the Trolley (Portland streetcar) to downtown Portland. It's time for our summer series of Monday evening group walks! We started this effort last summer and had a great time with it...what a nice time of the evening to take a walk! Tonight's walk (May 23rd) starts at 6:30PM at the West Coast Fitness Center and Video Store in the St Johns area of Portland. The walk goes through the beautiful University of Portland campus, then meanders past several historical buildings and sites in the St Johns area. Check the calendar page for the address and details! We also need to plan our fall event, date, place and all the details!!!!  ]]>Fri, 29 Apr 2011 09:58:47 -0800http://www.cedarmilers.org/2/post/2011/04/st-pats-teddy-bear-walk-post-event-report.htmlAll is tallied, reported, donated, and wrapped up for this year's St Patty's Day walk and Teddy Bear Collection. We had 159 walkers on a wet, windy, sunny, pleasant, cold, mild day (take your pick, it was all of those at one time or another!). We collected 297 teddy bears (and a few more, number unknown) were added to the pile a bit later. A photo of the bears is posted on our Facebook page.

Thanks to all who worked and helped protect the supplies from almost horizontal rain in the late afternoon. We sincerely appreciate everyone's efforts! ]]>
